"We're emancipating ourselves of how it has been done in the past," Kosvogiannis told the Jamaica Observer. "Last year it was held at the National Arena in St Andrew. Prior to that, it was at a similar indoor venue. This year, however, it will be different."

According to the hotelier, the final is scheduled for Sunday, July 7, at the Emancipation Park in St Andrew and will be free to the public.

Kosvogiannis, who secured the franchise rights in November 2011, said he has retained the services of the Kibwe McGann and Sean Lynn-owned INTUIT Concepts to manage the day-to-day operations.

"They're the best in the business," he said.

INTUIT Concepts, an events management company, is associated with several successful lifestyle brands including Wedding Spectacular, The Collections, Kingston Bridal Week, and Lifestyle TV series SPLASH, which airs on BET.

"The title 'Miss Jamaica' is a property, we believe, can never be truly owned by a single group. Miss Universe Jamaica is a servant and a representative of the Jamaican people," said McGann in a release.

"In accordance with our theme: 'Going for the crown', we are working feverishly with our sponsors and partners to reintroduce scholarships, and a considerable cash prize with the hopes of attracting a savvy, beautiful, goal-oriented woman who can represent Jamaica and make us proud," Lyn said.

Kosvogiannis said he has secured sponsorship of over $15 million and has inked a deal with KIA Motors to provide a motor vehicle for the winner.

"People have seen our dedication and passion and are willing to come on board," he told the Observer.

The hotelier said he would want to bring Donald Trump - head of Miss Universe Organisation - to the Jamaica but would have to partner with the Government for this venture.

"This would be wonderful for Jamaica as a destination and for the people," he said.

The Miss Universe title has been elusive for Jamaica. Yendi Phillipps was first runner-up in 2010; while Sandra Foster (1989); Kimberly Mais (1991); Nicole Haughton (1999); and Christine Straw (2004), were all in the Top 10.

Prior to Kosvogiannis' lien on the franchise, Kingsley Cooper — CEO of Pulse modelling agency — ended his 20-year relationship with the event in May 2009.

Miss Universe Pageant is one of three largest beauty contests in the world. It was founded in 1952.
