Miss Universe 2012 first runner-up Janine Tugonon split with her boyfriend because of The Script vocalist Danny O'Donoghue. The 23-year-old beauty pageant winner from the Philippines admitted on a morning TV show that her attraction to the Irish singer led to her break up with her Filipino boyfriend of almost one year.

 

Janine and now ex-boyfriend Jaypee Santos were guests on KrisTV, a morning show hosted by presidential sister Kris Aquino. During the segment of the show on Tuesday wherein they were seen cooking while the host engaged them in a conversation, Janine admitted that she and Jaypee "are not in good terms."

Upon the host's insistence, the licensed pharmacist revealed that they had fought over the attention she gave The Script singer. Janine met Danny when the Irish band performed in the country last month. Danny apparently asked her to follow him on Twitter, which she did. She then got a direct message from him.

But the seemingly innocuous exchange didn't sit well with Jaypee. He told her that if she really wasn't interested with "The Man Who Can't Be Moved" singer, she wouldn't have communicated with him. This led to an argument and their eventual breakup.

 

Jaypee, who was standing beside Janine the whole time she was recounting the story, chimed in, saying that Janine and Danny continued to exchange messages even then.

Janine reasoned out that she broke up with Jaypee because she didn't want to think about another guy while they were still in a relationship.

Asked if he is courting Janine again, Jaypee said that he's giving her time to think.

Netizens, meanwhile, are divided on the issue. Many online commenters have noted Janine's apparent insensitivity as she talked about Danny while Jaypee was present. Some also felt sorry for her ex-boyfriend.

Jaypee, on the other hand, defended the beauty title holder, telling his Twitter followers that while Janine didn't deny she got attracted to another guy, she didn't act on her feelings.

"... the other guy issue has already stopped.. We're focused now on the both of us," he wrote.

Janine finished first runner-up to Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo from the U.S.A. last December.
