Miss Russia haters: Russian beauty queen shocked by racist backlash

The new Miss Russia says she's baffled by the racist backlash that's happened since she received the crown.

Much of the criticism is that the 18-year-old beauty queen doesn't look Russian enough.

Elmira Abdrazakova was born in Kazakhstan but raised in Russia and her father is Tatar, one of Russia's oldest ethnic minorities, she told Sky News.

The online comments became so cruel that Abdrazakova shut down some of her social networking sites.

Some of the insults include descriptions of her as "an ordinary market stall worker" and that she'd be considered "a real beauty among sheep," according to comments posted on a Russian news site said, Sky News reported.

"It was bizarre for me when men were writing things like that to me, I was surprised we have people of that sort here," she said.

Abdrazakova, from a Siberian coal town, said she competed for the experience and a chance to see Moscow.

She will represent Russia at the 2013 Miss World pageant in Indonesia Sept. 28.
