Myverick Garcia was crowned Miss Mississippi USA 2012 Saturday night(Nov 05.2011) at Harrah's Events Center in Tunica. She was crowned after judges chose her from among 30 contestants. She will serve as Mississippi's delegate next June at the Miss USA 2012 pageant in Las Vegas. If she wins in Las Vegas, she will represent the United States at the Miss Universe 2012 pageant. In addition to her crown, the state title resulted in a the award of a $57,600 scholarship from Lindenwood University of St. Charles, MO. Garcia is a pageant veteran. At the Miss Mississippi USA 2011 pageant, she was first runner-up and named both Miss Photogenic and Miss Congeniality. She is a former Miss Jones County Junior College. "I am working on a B.S. in biological science with hope of pursuing a career in dentistry," she wrote in a January blog entry. "My dad’s family is from Puerto Rico," she wrote. "I have traveled there once along with many other places with my church on mission trips."
