EARLY STANDOUTS IN MISS UNIVERSE 2018

It’s only Day 2 of the Miss Universe pageant in Bangkok, Thailand but it feels like we are already in the eve of the preliminary competition judging from how we are glued to our smartphones about any updates, however small or miniscule, it can be for our consumption.

I know you are dying for any juicy scoop at the moment. Sadly, there is nothing yet worth articulating according to my moles in Bangkok.

So I will just enumerate everything I have heard from my moles here in this report. Here they are:

South Africa, Puerto Rico, USA, Australia and the Philippines are the girls who are standing out at the moment.

Mexico looks like a telenovela star. Kenya’s color is popping. Vietnam maintains her hype. Peru looks gorgeous. Costa Rica isn’t standing out in a good way.

Venezuela knows how to play the game as early as now. Getting close and having beso-beso with the Thai fans upon check in and arrival are part of her strategy.

Some of my moles were disappointed to see the other delegates in person as they feel they looked different from their pictures. Should we cut them some slack for looking quite tired from traveling thousands of miles from where they come from?  I mean, Miss Universe is only 3 weeks of their entire lives so I figure they should have prepared long and hard for this adventure of a lifetime.

Some believe Curacao might pull either a Haiti or Jamaica come finals night. Weak sash but strong candidate. Keep an eye on her now.

The same moles are also flabbergasted as to how poorly organized this edition is turning out to be. Example is the forthcoming Miss Universe National Costume Presentation. Thai Ticket Major, the online ticket seller, hemmed and hawed as to when it will be sold at the last minute. Apparently, the organizers are still in disarray whether the show will be held on Dec 10 or 11 in Pattaya, Thailand. (Ed Note – Latest Update : It will finally be held on December 10 in Pattaya after ironing out some minor details in the event). 

Indonesia- Philippines, Angola-Brazil, Honduras-Panama, Guam-Sri Lanka, China-Myanmar, Albania-Kosovo, Chile-Venezuela, Curacao-Guatemala, Germany-Swotzerland, Korea-Vietnam, Canada-Poland, Croatia-Israel, BVI-Great Britain, Japan-Mongolia,  Georgia-Ukraine, Kenya-Sierra Leone, Ecuador-Portugal, Australia-New Zealand, Thailand-South Africa, USA and Ireland are rooming with each other this year.
