NEW YORK (WABC) --
The fallout from Donald Trump's controversial comments about Latinos continued Wednesday, with Macy's becoming the latest group to cut ties with the GOP presidential candidate.

Macy's released the following statement:

"Macy's is a company that stands for diversity and inclusion. We have no tolerance for discrimination in any form. We welcome all customers, and respect for the dignity of all people is a cornerstone of our culture. We are disappointed and distressed by recent remarks about immigrants from Mexico. We do not believe the disparaging characterizations portray an accurate picture of the many Mexicans, Mexican Americans and Latinos who have made so many valuable contributions to the success of our nation. In light of statements made by Donald Trump, which are inconsistent with Macy's values, we have decided to discontinue our business relationship with Mr. Trump and will phase-out the Trump menswear collection, which has been sold at Macy's since 2004."

Trump responded by saying it was his decision to sever ties, calling the relationship "a small business in terms of dollar volume."

"I have decided to terminate my relationship with Macy's because of the pressure being put on them by outside sources," Trump said in a statement. "While selling Trump ties and shirts at Macy's is a small business in terms of dollar volume, my principles are far more important and therefore much more valuable. I have never been happy about the fact that the ties and shirts are made in China, and should I start a new product line somewhere in the future, I would insist that they are made in America. Quite frankly, I was never satisfied with manufacturing my product in China, but because of what they've done in terms of devaluing their currency, it is very hard for other companies to compete and make such apparel in the United States. These are the kinds of issues I am committed to addressing. Securing our border, negotiating trade deals that benefit the United States and bringing jobs back to America is my top priority.

"I have always said that if you are successful, it is very hard to run for office, especially the office of President. I have also continually stated that I am not beholden to anyone and this includes NBC and Macy's. Clearly, NBC and Macy's support illegal immigration, which is totally detrimental to the fabric of our once great country. Both Macy's and NBC totally caved at the first sight of potential difficulty with special interest groups who are nothing more than professional agitators, who are not looking out for the people they purport to represent, but only for themselves. It is people like this that are actually running our country because our leaders are weak and ineffective. If elected, I will greatly strengthen our border, making it impenetrable, putting a stop to illegal immigration once and for all. I will bring jobs back to the United States -- I will Make America Great Again!"

On Tuesday, Trump filed a $500 million lawsuit against Univision over the network's decision to terminate its contract with the Miss Universe organization and not broadcast the upcoming Miss USA pageant.

The suit says Univision is contractually required to broadcast the pageant and that, while Univision claims its decision came solely in response to Trump's comments about Latinos, the decision was in reality a politically motivated attempt to suppress Trump's freedom of speech under the First Amendment as he begins his presidential campaign.

Trump claims that prior to violating the contract, a high-ranking Univision executive called him and apologized, explaining that the company's actions were wrong and that they felt ashamed.

"As a consequence of their inappropriate actions, Univision and NBC have abandoned 51 wonderful young women who have come from all over the United States to pursue their dream of being crowned Miss USA," Turmp said. "Their participation in this globally renowned pageant has come at great cost and after years of sacrifice and hard work. NBC and Univision have wronged them greatly."

The news of the lawsuit comes one day after NBC announced it is ending its business relationship with the mogul and GOP presidential candidate because of the comments he made about immigrants during the announcement of his campaign.

NBC said it would no longer air the annual "Miss USA" and "Miss Universe" pageants, which had been a joint venture between the company and Trump. Trump has said he is no longer appearing in the television show "The Apprentice." NBC said "Celebrity Apprentice" will continue to go on without him.

"At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values. Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump," NBC said in the statement.

Trump said he anticipated losing the business relationship and that he's not apologizing for his statements because they "were correct."

"Whatever they want to do is OK with me," Trump told reporters in Chicago after a campaign speech to civic leaders.

But in a statement issued by his company in New York, Trump said "NBC is weak, and like everybody else is trying to be politically correct. That is why our country is in serious trouble."

He said he'd consider suing NBC, as well, also taking a shot at the decision to demote, but not fire, news anchor Brian Williams for telling false stories about some of the reporting he was involved in.

"They will stand behind lying Brian Williams, but won't stand behind people that tell it like it is, as unpleasant as that may be," he said.

Last week, Trump banned any employee of Univision from stepping foot on one of his properties, sending a signed letter to the company's CEO.

"Please congratulate your Mexican Government officials for having made such outstanding trade deals with the United States. However, inform them that should I become President, those days are over. We are bringing jobs back to the U.S. Also, a meaningful border will be immediately created, not the laughingstock that currently exists," Trump said in the letter.
