The contest this year had a meaningful change, as the pre-events and special awards now count toward the final judging. Dozens of medals were awarded to those who excelled at the ‘mini-competitions’ as well as those favored by the judges during the preliminary competitions.

Turkey could win Miss Earth tomorrow

One thing remains the same, though: The winners definitely need to show interest and knowledge of our environment.

The Miss Earth website published during these weeks live updates with the points that each delegate earned throughout the competition. As of November 23, the Official Miss Earth 2012 Scoresheet has ended like this:

  1. Turkey 102

  7. Italy 86
  8. Venezuela 86
  9. Belgium 84
  10. Malaysia 84
  11. Argentina 82

  13. Norway 82

Thailand: Big favorite since arrivals

And now on to the competition: 80 contestants arrived in the Philippines this year and, with the help of the new system, GB has determined those who are ready to take on the Miss Earth title. It was also explained that the preliminary interview keeps being the most important factor when choosing the semi-finalists, so there could be some surprises during the telecast.

Crown Material (Earth, Air, Water and Fire)

-Turkey, Ilknur Durasi: The standout through the whole event, she has the highest number of points, is tall, beautiful and a definite shoo-in for the top 4, would not be a surprise if she walks out with the Miss Earth crown.

-Thailand, Waratthaya Wongchayaporn: She emerged as possible winner during the initial press conference with her impressive beauty. Also well ranked in the leaderboard, another top 4 shoo-in.

-Norway, Nina Fjalestad: It wouldn’t be the first international crown for Nina as she already won the Miss Globe pageant. She has been doing very well in Miss Earth, with a type of beauty very well liked in the Asian continent.

-Venezuela, Osmariel Villalobos: Venezuela has only one Miss Earth titleholder (2005) and Osmariel could be on her way on becoming the country’s second winner. The press likes her and she has a good lobby among her fans.

-Russia, Natalia Pereverzeva: The woman who made international headlines after her honest opinion on her National government, is also a strong contender for this year’s title.

-USA, Siria Bojorquez: Another accomplished young lady who impressed locals with beauty and charisma could place USA in a privileged position.

-Puerto Rico, Darly Pacheco: Among the tallest contestants, she has proven that Puerto Rico is not all about Miss Universe, as they excel in other competitions as well.

-South Africa, Tamerin Jardine: She came with one thing in mind: To win the Miss Earth title, and she might.

Semi-Finalist Material: A group of contestants well-positioned to join the Top 16

Bahamas – Fiji – Paraguay – Brazil – US Virgin Islands – Czech Republic – Costa Rica – Wales

Darkhorses: Could Surprise come pageant night

Argentina – Germany – Moldova – Nepal – Kenya- Malaysia – Sweden – Netherlands – and of course, Philippines

Having said that, a pageant is won by competing, and not by predicting. Good luck to all 80 ladies tomorrowhttps://globalbeauties.com/blog/2012/11/miss-earth-2012-the-final-judgement/
