NEW YORK, NY – December 23, 2011 — Donald J. Trump, NBC Universal and Paula M. Shugart, President, Miss Universe Organization, announced today that the 61st Annual MISS UNIVERSE® Competition will air live from Paradise Island, Bahamas. The live event will take place at Atlantis, Paradise Island resort and air live on NBC and Telemundo on Monday, August 27th next summer.

There were rumors about Pristina, Kosovo, São Paulo, Brazil, Guadalajara, Mexico, Singapore, or Miami, USA, hosting the 2012 edition of Miss Universe, but none of these cities have agreed to come up with the amount of money proposed by the MUO.

Miss Universe was held in the Bahamas for the first time in 2009, when Venezuela’s Stefania Fernadez became her country’s 6th winner (photo).
