Describe yourself in three words: People oriented, artist looking for and producing beauty, cheerfull (positive).

What was it like being crowned Miss Universe Chile 2011? I felt surprised, amazed, nervous and excited with all the wonderful things that come with it.

What is the proudest moment of your life or most memorable day? Just to see the tears on my Dad's face and my Mom cheering for me, makes it one of the most memorable moments of my life. Specially because both of them have had a real rough year. My Dad came specially from the hospital to be with me that day. The other moment that qualifies in the top three proudest moments, is the day I had the opening of my first play with 200 spectators. And we all did very well.

Who is your role model and why: As we have many roles in life, I have different models, but one of the most important ones is my father. He is a centered and wise and a self made man, with a carreer in medicine. He is someone that is always open to my projects and decisions in life. He has always stood beside me. In fact, he was the first person to know that I was participating in this beauty peagant. I think that was the happiest moment of his life. Another role model is Rigoberta Menchú, winner of the Peace Nobel Prize (1992). She is a very important leader of the native people from Guatemala who among other things, has helped to create awareness of their cultural richness, and the reality of people whose values are not only centered in the material welfare

TOUGH QUESTIONS

1. Do you consider yourself to be a giver or a taker? Why?

I'm a giver, because I'm always taking responsabilities and taking care of things that are not my direct responsability, but I feel that it comes from inside of me to assume them anyways, so I do it happily. And I think that everything that you give, comes back to you, somehow or another.

2. If women were to rule the world by 2050, how different would the world be?

It would be a multidirectional world because women now a days have to embrace many roles in order to accomplish all the tasks that life requires of them. So the world would be multifunctional. Also more cozy, loving and open to diversity (all children are equal to mothers eyes).

3. In what role does a man add most to a woman - father, son or a partner?

I think that these roles are not comparable because they share different parts of a woman's life. But I do believe that a son, whom you have given birth, to will always be more bonded to you.

4. How would you change the world if you were to play God for a day?

I think that I cannot imagine this sort of responsability dropping into my hands, but I would try to give everyone what was given to me in my home.

5. If you could be on the cover of any magazine, which would you choose and why?

Vogue, because of their carefull productions and the broad spectrum of their line of work and editorial statement.

6. Which quality of women gives them an edge over men?

The one that makes a man think more with his heart than with the head.

7. Do you think that the youth today faces more pressure than the previous generation?

Of course, because of a lot of things: one is the health and deseases dissorders of modern world (physical and mental dissorders), and because of the technology of communications and overwhelming access to information. We are in such a globalized world and the possibility of being 24/7 wired is a wonderful thing, but it also disconect us from a face to face communication, which I think is a really important and necessary aspect of human relationships. Also, the pressure of such a competitive and discartable world, takes us away from the joy of simple things; although, on the other hand, a competitive environment also motivates a constant strive for development. Being in a discartable world, this generation tends to replace everything faster and does not look for enduring bonds. This means that the following generation will be suffering the consecuences of these lost values.

8. What would you say is the biggest problem facing our educational system today? Why?

Education in Chile is a main subject for the people and the government. We have had several months of serious revolts leaded by the students' organizations who are asking for major reforms. I think this reflects what we can observe in other countries of the world. This is because the new generation will be taking care of the well being of the people in their countries. They are the ones who are going to be in charge of the future. And I think they are more and more aware of what this responsibility means and what kind of world they want to live in. And education is one of the strongest tool for change in society and it should be available in equality for all.

Do you have any Special Talents? I read music, play the piano, the flute, I love painting, sculptures, acting and connecting with nature and outdoor life.

Tell us a little something about your Country?

My country has the most amazing diversity of landscapes. If you live in Santiago you can be in the beach in one hour and in the mountains the next hour. It is the country with the biggest range of ecosistems in the continent. We have desert like Atacama, then we have a mild mediterranean center with ski slopes and a very cosmopolitan capital city and an amazing richness in the southern forests and we even participate in a small “United Nations” with 12 countries sharing the end of the world: the glaciers of Antártica. I love that open range of possibilities.

What do you see yourself doing five years from now? Acting, being a citizen of the world.

K. What is the one thing that people didn't know about you? That I have a Waldorf education which focuses education on an integrated human being; and where art and creativity are as usefull means, on the same scale as reason and logical thinking. This doesn't mean that it is a complete artistic education. For example, knitting is used to motivate mathematics and theatrical expression as a way of learning history.

To Miss Vanessa, we are hoping that the comeback of Chile in Miss Universe 2011 is a successful and meaningful comeback, your accomplishment and talent will be your strength and power in the competition, plus your beauty and sexiness is just amazing.... we know that you will rock the competition.... go CHILE.... make us proud.... :)

Special thanks and hug to Miss Monica for assisting and facilitating PageantFanatic for the wonderful Q&A.... More More More Power
