Thank you so much to Puerto Rican and internationally renown artesanal jewelry and designer artist Janet Fossas who designed the gift to be presented during the Charity Auction at Miss World in a few weeks. Ms Fossas' work has been exhibited, awarded and collected worldwide.
Among Jeannette Fossas’ commissions is a necklace for queen Sofía of Spain.
Fossas is a GIA graduate gemologist, holds an MFA from Rode Island School of Design and a BA from Syracuse University.

On her “Organica” Line, Fossas turns exact replicas of nature into wearable sculptures. Fossas carefully balances the organic forms with geometric structures to create pieces, which fuse with the human body. Jeannette Fossas merges body and piece in a sensuous dance among art, fashion and comfort.

The pearls represent the origin of the beauty queen, as the island of Puerto Rico, has been called “ The Caribbean Pearl”. The clasp was made with the replica of wild mushrooms, native to the island, and transformed into jewelry by the puertorrican artist. It is coincidence that the same designer who made a necklace commissioned for Queen Sophia of Spain, in 1987, is now donating another necklace through another type of queen; a Puerto Rican beauty queen.
