Meet the 65 national delegates competing for the title of Miss Universe Canada 2016 – Finals will take place in Toronto on Saturday June 11th at The Bluma Appel Theatre – St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts.

The winner of the national pageant will have the opportunity to represent her country at Miss Universe 2016. Canada has won the Miss Universe Pageant in 1982 with Karen Dianne Baldwin and in 2005 with Natalie Glebova.

Alexis Lopez – She was born in Toronto, Ontario and was raised there until the age of twelve. She then moved to Oakville, Ontario with her family and is now proud to call it home. Alexis loves to be in front of the camera and you can always catch her smiling. Lopez graduated from the Visual Merchandising Arts program at Sheridan College and is currently pursuing a career in the Fashion Industry.

Alice Nyambi – Born and raised in Uganda, Alice Nyambi moved to Canada in 2009. And now she is a proud Canadian Citizen living in Calgary, Alberta. She graduated from Father Lacombe High School in 2014. Currently she is in her second year of studying nursing at Columbia College in Calgary, AB. She is also currently doing modelling with Patti Falconer Agencies.

Amandalina Letterio – She is an automotive writer and television personality in the GTA. She has written many car reviews and automotive articles for various publications. Amandalina says writing about cars has given her motivation to break down more female stereotypes, not just by writing about cars, but in all aspects of her career.

Amber Bernachi – Bernachi is a confident, independent woman who believes anything is possible with a strong vision and positive approach. She is a goal setter and achiever who won’t let anything prevent her from attaining her dreams. She has a passion for traveling, volunteering, reading and fitness. She was raised in the small, riverside town of Amherstburg, Ontario.

Aylar Macki – Macky was born in the cosmopolitan city of Tehran, Iran and has been a proud Canadian citizen residing in Calgary since the age of nine. Aylar has lived in Calgary, Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal therefore has an acquired taste of being a true Canadian. She studied at the University of Calgary majoring in Marketing and Sociology and is now a serial entrepreneur developing businesses in various countries.

Bianca Catracchia – Bianca was born in Toronto, Ontario. She graduated with honours from Seneca College in 2014 and moved on to graduate from Ryerson University, this past spring in Business and Professional Communications. Currently, she is working for the world’s most global financial institution as a Human Resource Consultant. She enjoys assisting employees on a day-to-day basis and finds fulfillment in helping others achieve their personal development goals.

Brianne Kidner – Kidner was born and raised in the beautiful country side of Wildwood, Alberta. Raised a country girl, she knows that with hard-work and dedication, the opportunities in life are endless. She is currently a registered nurse working in a rural hospital on an acute care unit. She is actively pursuing a career in emergent nursing, and plans to eventually become a flight nurse and emergency first responder with STARS.

Brittany Michalchuk – Confidence, hard work, passion, integrity, positivity, kindness, and determination are the 7 pillars of Brittany’s life. Her biggest dream is to leave a legacy that her future children to be proud of, while working hard to make a positive impact and creating meaningful change. 

Cailey Theos – Cailey tries to seize every opportunity that falls in her path in order to enhance her knowledge and experience level so that she can help others in the future. Having travelled to a vast amount of countries, being bilingual and having a mixed heritage, Cailey has an in depth understanding and respect for all cultures and nationalities.

Camila Gonzalez – Gonzalez is a student, model and radio host from Toronto, Ontario. She was born in Colombia and moved to Canada when she was 3 years old. She has always been strong and persevering since an early age. Camila has always been passionate about working with and performing in front of people. She competed at regional and provincial levels in figure skating for 8 years and used her skills to teach younger children how to skate as a volunteer CanSkate coach.

Cassandra Paonessa – Paonessa is an elementary school teacher from Hamilton, Ontario, born on September 9, 1993. Cassandra studied Childhood Education and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brock University. Following University, she graduated teacher’s college at Charles Sturt University with a Bachelor of Primary Education degree.

Catherine Valle – Catherine is a prime example of the multiculturalism that Canada has to offer, having grown up in a loud but exciting Italian and Lebanese household. She grew up as the oldest sibling to two younger brothers, Andrew and Anthony. Her parents met at Western University, the school that she would later call her own.

Chrystalle Omaga – Omaga is a woman of character and integrity. A vibrant young woman that was born and raised in Canada. She is of Filipino and Ukrainian decent, experiencing, within each family gathering, a true sense of diversity and culture. She exemplifies how to persevere in life by not settling for anything less than what she deserves.

Clariza Lopez – Clariza Lopez, a native of London Ontario was born in a traditionally Spanish household. Her mother, originally from El Salvador and her father from Nicaragua, Clariza was raised on many of the customs that her parents were taught back in their respective countries. As two young newcomers- Morena Landaverde and William Lopez-Cortez, successfully raised two daughters and established themselves as progressive, hardworking citizens.

Cynthia Ayoub – Ayoub was born and raised in the beautiful city of Beirut, Lebanon, and is currently living in Montreal, Quebec. She is a graduate of University of Montreal where she received a master’s degree in environment and sustainable development after a bachelor of science in biology. Since a very young age, Cynthia was seduced by the world of art. She was a ballet dancer and won the first prize in a dance competition in 2007.

Darya Khosravi – Khosravi was born and raised in Richmond Hill, Ontario into a family that provided her with unconditional love and support since day one. With her roots originating from Iran and being Zoroastrian, Darya truly embodies what it means to be a Canadian – being free to be who you are and to proudly represent what you believe in.

Diana-Luk Ye – Born and raised in the rich francophone community of Montreal’s south shore Brossard, Diana-Luk Ye values the beauty of clear communication and the importance of staying true to yourself. She is a first-generation Canadian with Shanghainese origins. Privileged with the skill to speak many languages such as French, English, Shanghainese (Wu dialect), and with intermediate skills in Spanish, Mandarin and Cantonese, she develops a constant thirst of learning about the rich cultures Canada is proud to have and celebrate.

Elizabeth Quan – Completing her degree at George Brown College for Applied Business Administration (Hospitality) Program, she has also completed two years at Ryerson University for Hospitality and Tourism Management. Even though she has completed her education, she constantly strives to learn more and pushes herself to be the best she can be every day. She currently bartends and manages one of the best claimed Mexican restaurants within Canada in the distillery district of Toronto.

Evelyn Li – Li was born in Neunkirchen, Austria and raised in the Greater Toronto Area. She considers herself a proud Canadian Citizen. She graduated from Fanshawe College with a degree in fashion merchandising. She is currently working for Canadian designer, Evan Yanagi, who has been in the fashion industry for over 35 years.

Felicity Slikboer – Felicity is a proud and confident young woman. Being only 18-years-old it would seem as though she is too young to hold the title of Miss Universe Canada, but she disagrees 100%! She looks at her age as an advantage in the competition stating, “My age allows me to relate with the youth, and give those who have entered adult-hood something to take pride in.”

Jada Hong – Jada was born in rural, southern Alberta and raised in Spruce Grove, Alberta. When she was young, she was very chubby and constantly criticized by her relatives for her size. The remarks shattered her confidence. Thus, her mission is to empower girls and women to embrace individuality and pursue their dreams; no matter how unattainable it seems.

Jelena Komlenac – Currently at the age of 21 she is in her third year at the University of Windsor studying Biological Sciences. Her main focus is to finish her degree and go on to study dentistry. She not only has a deep interest in the sciences but in the arts as well. Throughout Jelena’s whole life she has been active in her community’s various theatre events performing on stage.

Jessica Goncalves – Jessica is a proud Portuguese Canadian who was born and raised in Leamington, Ontario. She is a recent graduate of Vancouver Film School, having completed a one year intensive in Acting for Film and Television. Before studying on the West Coast, Jessica received her Bachelor of Arts Honours and Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto.

Jillian Martin – Jillian is a motivated, caring & passionate young woman. She is currently a 3rd year International Studies student at the University of Saskatchewan who hopes to work with global development programs around the world.

Katherine Jarzecki – Katherine was born in Hamilton and raised in Burlington, Ontario, in a Polish household. Having already completed a B.Sc in Life Sciences from McMaster University, she is currently pursuing a B.Eng in Materials Engineering & Co-op from the same institution.

Kayce Cooper – Kayce was born and raised in the beautiful lakeside city of Burlington, Ontario, Canada. Surrounded by water and the famous Bruce Trail, Kayce spent a good part of her childhood outdoors exploring.

Kelsey Baile – Kelsey Baile is proud to say she is from Grande Prairie, Alberta. Her smile and outgoing personality draw everyone to her. She is an inspiration and role model for children and youth in her hometown. Kelsey tries to take every opportunity to inspire others to achieve their potential.

Kesiah Papasin – When she was 13, while attending the 2004 Canadian Model and Talent Convention (CMTC) in Toronto, Kesiah met Natalie Glebova, Miss Universe 2005. She was captured by Miss Glebova’s beauty and determination.

Kimiya Zamani – Kimiya was born in Iran and immigrated to Canada with her family when she was five years old. She is an ambitious, hardworking, positive and kind hearted woman.

Laura Guzman – This Colombian beauty was forced to flee her native country at 16 and seek political refuge in Canada where she is now a proud citizen. Through the turmoil of facing kidnapping by the Colombian terror group known as the Farc, being uprooted and coming to a completely foreign place, Laura faced life’s challenges with a deep sense of hope and gratitude.

Laura Luu – She just completed her Honours Bachelors of Science at the University of Guelph. Laura majored in Biological Sciences and hopes to one day become a pediatric surgeon and the first Vietnamese Canadian Miss Universe Canada.

Leigha Vegh – Leigha was born in Toronto, Ontario but is of Hungarian, Croatian, and Scottish descent. Despite being an ethnic hybrid, she is very proud to be Canadian because of the opportunities and diverse culture the nation provides.

Medina Bandalli – Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, as a first generation Canadian, Medina was fortunate enough to be raised by her unconditionally loving parents. With an older brother who has not only been her biggest critique but greatest supporter, she has moulded into the confident yet humble women that she is today.

Megha Patel – Patel was born and raised in India until the age of fourteen and is now a proud Canadian Citizen living in Mississauga. She graduated with honors in Bachelor of health studies specializing in health management from York University.

Melinda Henderson – Henderson is a strong, resilient, Anishinabek woman who has faced adversity throughout her life and works hard towards her goals and ambitions. Melinda was born in Winnipeg, MB, and grew up in both Thunder Bay, ON, and Lethbridge, AB.

Melissa Diakoumeas – Melissa was born in Markham, Ontario. Her family later settled in Whitby, Ontario where she has lived for nearly 16 years. She is an extremely dedicated person that believes in hard work and giving back to her community. She is known for her kind-hearted nature.

Moni Ogunsuyi – As a 22 year old young woman, Moni has achieved success in several projects she has been a part of. Described by her peers as an out-going, fun loving, free soul type of person.

Monika Horvat – Horvat graduated from the University of Lethbridge in December 2015 with great distinction. Monika is advocate for pursing Economic Development in the developing world.

Monique Johnston – Johnston was born and raised in the flower city of Brampton, Ontario. She is currently working towards finishing her Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and Mental Health with a double minors in Psychology and Philosophy at Carleton University. She aspires to become a neurosurgeon.

Morvarid Akhgar – Akhgar was born in the beautiful city of Shiraz, Iran, and moved to Saskatoon, Sk, Canada as a young child. She was born with blue eyes and blonde hair thus why her mother named her Morvarid which means pearl in Persian.

Natalie Carriere – Natalie was born on July 1st, Canada Day! She loves to celebrate and share her birthday with the entire country; this makes her very proud to be Canadian.

Natalie Zaiffdeen – Known for her quick-witted humour and positive outlook on life, Natalie Zaiffdeen is a creative and compassionate individual, always open to new opportunities and challenges. Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, she is a first generation Canadian with a heritage rich in culture and traditions drawn from the beautiful islands of Trinidad and Tobago and the sunny coast of California.

Nataliya Yavorska – Nataliya believes that beauty is a practice of kindness, patience, and grace towards others and towards oneself, as opposed to a strictly physical phenomenon.
She has been involved in a unique combination of endeavours.

Nav Sidhu – Sidhu was born and raised in Canada and currently lives in Brampton, Ontario. She is a nursing student, but has currently taken a break from nursing to purse her dreams in acting school. She has been a excellent athlete her whole life.

Ninela Sanchez – Sanchez is a Venezuelan, born in Caracas in 1993 and is now a proud Canadian. Ninela considers herself an ambitious, charismatic, self-driven individual with a great passion for life.

Richa Kalra – Kalra was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, where she proudly was voted Miss Congeniality in her graduating high school class and completed her Bachelors in Science at the University of Alberta.

Sabrina Felice – Felice is goal-driven, with an infectious personality, and is proud to have been born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario. She was raised in a large Italian family, who continue to keep their traditions and culture a daily part of their lives.

Sara Poonia – She attended York University as an undergradaute student studying the Honours Bachelor program of Criminology.

Sasha Lombardi – She currently resides in Toronto and is graduating from University of Toronto with an honors degree specializing in social cultural anthropology with a minor in environmental anthropology.

Shayna Ding – Behind the glamour, behind the makeup, and behind the flashy dance costumes there is an ordinary girl with an extraordinary path. Shayna was born in Beijing, China, and immigrated to Canada with her parents at the age of 11.

Sian Slingerland – Slingerland was born in Sechelt, British Columbia, raised around the world and has now settled down in Vancouver. Her father’s career took the family all over Asia. She has lived in China, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

Sindy Nguyen – She is an Event MC, Assistant Cruise Director, World Traveller & was a Houseguest on Big Brother Canada Season 3.

Skye Nwaelleh – Nwaelleh is a proud resident of Ottawa, the capital city of our great country Canada! She is a driven, passionate and ambitious twenty six year old woman with a big heart for others.

Swati Abrol – Swati is a 21 year old geophysics student from the nation’s capital, Ottawa. Three words that best describe Swati are: bold, passionate and ambitious.

Toyin Ishola – Ishola, born in Nigeria and migrated to Canada in 2004. She graduated from Media Foundation at Humber College, currently in her last Semester studying in school of Hospitality and Tourism Management.
